Cloud based solutions is a phrase that frames the applications, services or resources that are available to users on demand through the Internet platform. All these cloud based services, applications or resources (cloud- based solutions) are provided by the servers of cloud computing provider.
But what is cloud based solution actually is? It can be broadly categorized as developed web application but not a typical web application. In cloud based applications, users can access the data, applications or resources through the web anywhere, anytime. It is not dependent on the typical web browsers.
Say like a medical professional wants to enter the patient’s record one day on one system and may be required to access and edit the same record from another system another day. One solution is that they can carry that record manually, but that’s just against the today’s digital environment. So the next solution is to keep the file at a cloud server on one system and access it at any other system through web. It’s called cloud computing.
So the evident advantage of this cloud based solution over the desktop application is that we can access it anytime, anywhere through the web.
Now let’s have a look at how the cloud based solutions can be used in Headspace NewAccess project. For a medical professional, they need a large amount of work to enter, compose and access the patient’s critical information in their systems as per the current procedures. These manual entry procedures are very delaying and fallible. Thus it creates a potential that hinders the real-time intelligibility of data. For the patient’s fast reliable diagnosis and monitoring, it would dampen the procedures.
To provide a solution to this, we can use a cloud server services or applications to store, share and access the patient’s data anywhere.
Aspects of Cloud Based Solutions:
Cloud based solutions is a broad conceptualization. It is growing at very fast pace since last 5 years. It is under implementation as well as under research & development. There are many aspects of cloud based solutions:
1. Data Security:
Data security is an act of securing the information from unauthorized access and whose primary aim is to maintain confidentiality, integrity, availability (CIA) of data. It’s the practice of being protected against the unauthorized use of data especially digital data, or the steps to accomplish this. Today digital society is facing the biggest challenges in managing data security. As the digital age is growing, frequency of cyber attacks, threats, data loss and interference in services are also increasing. Sharing of data is the crucial provocation in today’s cloud based computing. Data security level depends on the type of cloud. It can be either Private cloud or Public cloud. Private cloud is for the organizations that look for more secured way for storing and accessing their data on the cloud. Whereas public cloud is for the organization or users that are looking for the cost free cloud storage servers to access its features. It’s the most easy and cheap facility without the implementation of security measures. And hybrid cloud is the mixture of both. It allows users to keep their crucial data in private cloud as well as keeping their common data in public cloud.
Briefly we can say that the most concerned issues of cloud data security are data privacy, data location and its secure transmission. According to the research surveys, we can outlook the data security in:
· Data integrity: It is the main aspect of the cloud system’s information integrity. It simply signifies that the data stored on cloud servers should not be accessed, edited or lost by an uncertified user. It is the solitary network that is obtained by applying limitations on who can access database and how transactions can be implemented on it. And this network is referred as database management system (DBMS). Various skills are required at technical level are required like RAID strategies and digital signatures.
· Data confidentiality: It refers to the safety of user’s private and crucial data in the cloud. And to make it certain, there are some Authentication and data access control procedures. It gives a plus point to the cloud servers by gaining the user’s trust. For its implementation, various encryptions are used at the cloud while performing queries to database and side by side changes.
