Introduction
In an organisation, cross-cultural communication is very important. Especially in a multinational organisation, a different employee from the different localities and different culture comes and that is the reason why the cross-cultural atmosphere creates within an organisation. The culture can be a cause of the different languages within one organisation that is a big issue in the context of communication. The different issues of cross-cultural communication can impose several threats to an organisation as well.
Background of the Case Study
The Australian multinational organisation Rio Tinto is facing different cross-cultural communication problems in recent years. It has been discussed above that the multinational organisations have different employees belonging to different cultures and Rio Tinto is not an exception. Rio Tinto is a mining corporation ad that is the reason the activities within the organisation is huge (Urban & Wojcik, 2019). In order to carry out the different activities, proper teamwork and cooperation between employees are very important. This is lacking in the organisation, in recent times, because of the cultural differences between the employees.
Issues Created by Cultural Differences in Communication
Rio Tinto has the employees belonging from different organisations and that is the reason why the cultural differences of this organisation are very high. Due to these cultural differences, there are many problems within the organisation and a certain level of communication gap is also created within the atmosphere. The different communication styles of the different employees have imposed a number of effects on the process of communication. The communication between the employees is not smooth at all, which is the major problem of the communication within this organisation.
