1. HIV Testing and Counselling: Mandatory testing of all prisoners in some jail and isolating them for treatment purpose. Although WHO are opposing on the mandatory testing process. In 2012, the HIV Testing was conducted in 11 states in USA for all its prisoners.
2. Treatment and care of the prisoners: During the treatment of the prisoners adherence to treatment was guaranteed and confidentiality was maintained. Also, positive relationship was maintained with the prison health staffs for the treatment of the HIV patients.
3. Programme, educating and communicating: The prisoners are informed and educated on HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and how to prevent its transmission. This applied both inside and after release from the prison. Research found that programs related to proper housing and employment opportunities for the prisoners after their release from the jail have high successes in changing the risk behaviour of the prisoner getting infected to sexually transmitted diseases. Also, educating and informing the prisoners the benefits of using condoms during sex enhances the chances of safe sex practices.
