Yes, this statement seems true and feasible that juveniles are developmentally different from adults. The basic developmental difference between juveniles and adults lies in their age group and maturity level. Juveniles include individuals between 10 to 17 years while adults are beyond 17 years. The maturity level of juveniles is quite low than adults, therefore come more in attention to police. The nature of crimes committed by Juveniles depict their immaturity as they are less experienced in committing offences, prefer committing offences in groups and public areas as public transport, shopping centres, etc (Richards, 2011).
It is argued that juveniles commit offences in lieu of gaining attention of others, and, their offences are unplanned, episodic, and opportunistic. In this regard, it is believed that they are more responsive to rehabilitation efforts for improving maturity level, understanding and intellectual abilities.
