Introduction

Alexander Dumas is one of the French authors that have successfully portrayed the lives of common French people and how they were tempted by the power and authority as well as by the use of Romanticism in literal productions at the same time. Under Napoleon, his father, Thomas-Alexander Dumas, had been a general, but the two men had a falling out and never reconciled in 1799 (N.A. 2018).
