This research will be based on topics (the communication process; barriers to the communication process; channels of communication; technology & social media communication principles; group decision making and stakeholders) covered in class during weeks 1, 5 and 7 and applying the report writing skills covered in week 4. Assessment Description You have been appointed to a committee for a State Fitness Industry Association. The Association operates on a membership basis, consisting of gym owners, exercise professionals and personal trainers. They are also responsible to ensure business practices of the gyms and professionals are ethical and in line with consumer rights of the community that use their services. The Association works closely with local and state governments to also drive the direction of association projects and support future policy making. The state government has expressed a number of concerns to the Association in relation to the fitness industry’s treatment of consumers. As a result, the Association has decided to develop a code of conduct and has asked you to be on this committee that will work with all the groups concerned. Your role is to research and compile a report on the communication strategies between each of the stakeholders and the different needs that they all have. • First the committee will need to work with several government appointed members to develop the code of conduct. • Secondly the committee will need to consult with gym owners, exercise professionals and personal trainers to get feedback on what will work for them whilst meeting the ethical and moral issues that have been raised by government. • Thirdly the committee will need communicate the outcomes to potential consumers that use gyms or personal training services. All three groups have different functions in the process so your report will need to discuss the different communication needs of each of the three groups. Analyse these needs in relation to the theory and make one communication strategy recommendation for each group (Three recommendations in total). Page 2 Kaplan Business School Assessment Outline Assessment Instructions The assessment is to be presented in a Report Format using headings and requires the following sections: • Cover page • Table of contents • Introduction (100 words) – state simply the purpose of the report and the structure it will follow • Overview of the communication needs of each group (200 words) – a general description of the role each group has in the project and what type of communication considerations you may need to consider. • Communication Models / Theories (300 words) – your own research on what communication models or theories help you understand and support your recommendations (think about what information you learned in weeks 1, 5 and 7; then refer to the weekly readings for those weeks). • Conclusion (100 words) – a summary of the key information you identified in your report • Recommendations (300 words) – Identify a total of 3 strategies the committee could implement to ensure efficient communication with each of the groups concerned (think about what the best way will be to communicate with government, gyms and fitness professionals as well as communicate the code of conduct to potential consumers). • Reference List Important Study Information Please refer to the marking criteria as a guideline to help you complete the report. Communication is a very important process in daily life. In general, communication is needed in order to establish a suitable relation between different groups of people. The communication can make people more understandable to others. That is why it can be said that in general communication plays a very important role in the lives of the people. Overview of the communication needs of each group
In the general prospect, communication can establish a very strong relationship between two or more people. Through the process of communication, the people can feel related to each other. Besides that, communication can help people to establish a very intricate bond between different human beings (Hargie, 2016). Many problems of human beings can be solved only through communication. Without the means of proper communication, a huge conflict can be created between the different persons (Namhata & Patnaik, 2019). That is why it is very important to communicate with each other within a specific society. Besides that in the business sector, communication is equally important.
The communication is needed in order to know about the different problems within an organisation. Through the process of communication, the employees can seek help from their leaders and they can communicate with their hierarchy as well (Porcu, Del Barrio-Garcia & Kitchen, 2017). The communication is needed in order to set a great relationship between the different employees. It can also reduce the different prospects of conflicts within an organisation. In order to use the internet or different technologies, communication is equally needed. Just like the real world, the virtual world also needs plenty of scopes of communication in order to mitigate several problems and establish a good relationship over the internet.
