plant scienceINDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT:Literature Review (20 pts)Instructions: Write a literature review focused on topics related to the question you are asking in yourArabidopsisexperiment. The assignment will be submitted as a single Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF document via Canvas prior tothe start of class next week. No late assignments will be accepted. The review must include the following1. A minimum of two pages of text, not including your literature cited page.2. The structure will be theme-based: meaning you will have an introduction and conclusion, and the body of yourassignment will present a specific idea/argument/opinion/or point for each paragraph. Your review should answer thequestion: “What is known about my hypothesis?”3. Each paragraph presenting an idea/point must contain a minimum of two (2) primary sources.4. The entire paper must use a minimum of six (6) primary (original, peer-reviewed, empirical) sources. Six primarysources is theminimumnumber of references. Additional references such as books and websites are acceptable, aslong as the sources areappropriate. See your instructor if you are unsure about the reliability of a source. Yourmanual is not an acceptable reference.5. A literature cited section properly formatted in CSE.See Appendix D for instructions for CSE citation formatting.FormattingHeader should be 12pt font and include course, lab instructor name, section number, dateThe document should be 1.5 spaced, with the exception of the literature cited section which will be single spacedInclude page numbersText should be 12pt Times New RomanMargins should be set to 1”Important tips for writing a literature reviewDon’t get discouraged if you have trouble finding sources in the beginning. The UTA central library is an excellentresource. The librarians are there to help you. Also, see Appendix C for help with finding scientific literature.Find and read all your sources before writing your review. Take notes on each one!Make an outline of the ideas and points you plan to present.Quotes are unacceptable! As usual, you are synthesizing and paraphrasing ALL your information.While this is a scientific paper, don’t try to be overly elaborate with your writing. Make your statements in astraightforward manner so that anyone with some experience in science can understand you.Plagiarism and academic dishonestyYou may have shared literature sources with your teammate, but you are writing your review ON YOUR OWN.Everybrain synthesizes information differently. Students that submit work matching in style and prose WILL be sent to studentconduct and receive a 0 on the assignment. The excuse “we used the same sources so our papers are the same” is notgoing to be accepted.

Arabidopsis experiment

Introduction
Plant aerial development is affected by multiple factors and the duration or length of a day is considered to be an important factor t
hat affects the timing and developmental stage of floral transition in Arabidopsis plants. As Arabidopsis plants are 'long day' plants, the time to flower is affected by short days and the leaf number increases. This paper aims to analyze the results of several experiments relating to the impact of day length on plant flowering and leaf area expansion through literature review.
Research question: Is flower emergence and leaf expansion impacted by day length?
The dependent variables include flower emergence and leaf expansion and the day length is the independent variable. The ecotype tested includes Arabidopsis thaliana. There are no environmental threats that can be associated with the question. In real world, it helps us understand the genetic process of certain plant types.
Argument discussion: Testing the effects of day length
As per Cookson, S. J., Chenu, K., & Granier, C. (2017), Arabidopsis thaliana is a plant in which the time to flower is delayed by short days. Arabidopsis thaliana is considered an ideal species to study the effect of day duration on flowering cycles as it is a long day plant and it develops like a commercial crop and reproduces many seeds easily. Moreover, it is inexpensive to grow and allows extensive genetic experiments often involving a large number of plants together. In comparison to other plants, it lacks the repeated, less informative DNA sequences and helps achieve the objective of studying the plant and its genetic elements with ease (Bulter TJ, Evers GW, Hussey MA, Ringer LJ, 2012).
Bulter TJ, Evers GW, Hussey MA, Ringer LJ (2012), explains the physiological and molecular events associated with the response of leaf expansion and flowering cycles in Arabidopsis thaliana. These...
