Plan for Success, I Hear You Feedback Form Name of student listening to instructions: Name of student giving instructions: Kevin Smythwick Subject of instructions: Freestyle for Beginners (Swimming 1 on 1 with Kevin) Description of each step of the instructions: 1. First lets get into the water. Dunk yourself into the water. I want you to feel the water, make sure your hands are in a scoop shape. Wave your hands and arms thru the water. I want you too feel the density of the water. 2. Next we are gonna practice a breathing exercise. Take a deep breath. I want you to put your face in the water, looking at the bottom of the pool. Face down for 3 seconds, slowly exhaling blowing bubbles in the water. Then after 3 seconds i want you to turn your head to the side take another deep Breath, face back down for another 3 seconds exhale, then turn head to the side take another deep breath. I want you to practice that a few times. 3. Next we are gonna practice our kicking. Now lets hold onto the wall. Arms extended, Face down we are gonna incorporate our breathing exercise, legs nice and straight, and toes pointed. Now lets Kick (kick, kick, kick) turn head to side take that breath every 3 seconds and keep kicking non stop. Lets practice this for 1 minute. Great Job 4. Next we are gonna practice gliding. So your gonna place both feet on the wall, one of your hands on the wall holding on,and the other hand extended out in front of you. Your gonna use both of you feet to kick off from the wall. The hand that was placed on the wall is gonna extend out in front of you with the other hand and your gonna make a pencil shaped. And just glide across the water. Practice that a few times and see how far you can go. 5.Now we are gonna practice our arm movements. First glide off the wall, keeping your body nice and straight, and legs kicking. Next pull one arm back thru the water going toward your hip, your fingers should reach your hip with your elbow already out of the water. Next extend that hand out the water in front of you once that hand exits the water turn your head to the side and take a breath then face back in still extending your hand out in front of you with your fingers entering the water first. Repeat that same motion with the other hand, And eventually both arms should be repeating that step simultaneously. Here are some key tips to remember. Always keep your fingers together and your arms should look like a funky S shape. Practice that and you will become a great swimmer in no time.
