Phillipe has recently lost his wife, Merriam, to whom he had been married for 50 years. His adult children are concerned about his depression and his lack of desire to go on living. At their urging, he has agreed to counseling. The counselor has assessed his level of depression, suggesting that he might benefit from medication, and in the first session has used a loss time line to facilitate discussion with Phillipe of his life with Merriam.
1. Bibliotherapy can be very beneficial as a homework assignment in order to help clients gain insight and learn more about the grief process. Do some research and find a book that would be appropriate for this client.
