Answer: Victimology is a branch of criminology which emerged in mid 1900s. It studies the relation that the offender or the victim. It mainly researche
s on whether the offender is a friend, a family or an acquaintance of the victim group or just a stranger. The study also focuses on the reason why the offender victimizes the injured one in the first place. The field of victimology constitutes of many other disciplines as well. For instance, law, psychology, sociology, social work and many others.

Answer: Historically, the victim rights movement started almost 40-50 years ago. It was a consequence of the rising social consciousness among the general public. The first time the concept of victimology aroused in the hearts of the general mass, world war II was already over. Victimology, in its early days stated a theory that said that the conduct or the behavior of a victim is the consequence of the actions of the offender. During the 1960s the people of America showed a considerable amount of increase in their interest in case of crime and along with that the interest of people in the discipline of victimology went upwards. Due to the society structure that we have in almost all over the world, we can undoubtedly say that women were a main and a major part of the protest of the victims’ right movement. In 1970s the crime levels of America got unexpectedly and unacceptably high. Moreover, no extra care or attention was paid to the victims. The then feminists immediately saw the need to provide extra support and care to the victims of social injustice, specially, rape, sexual assault and other gender violence.
