Percent Composition Calculate the percent composition of these unknowncompounds that are formed from these reactions. Send this file to me through the assignment function. 1. 60.2g of Hg combines completely with 24.0g of Br. 2. 0.219g of La reacts with Oxygen to form a compound with a mass of 0.256.g 3. 0.875g of Al combines completely with 3.45g of Cl. 4. 4.29g of C combines completely with 5.71g of O. Calculate the percent composition of each of these known compounds. 5. Carvone(responsible for the smell in caraway seeds)C10H14O 6.Sodium tartrateNa2C4H4O6 7. Calcium Hydrogen Oxalate Ca(HC2O4)2 8. Ammoniumphosphate (NH4)3PO4 Using the results from problems 5-8, calculate the amount of hydrogen, in grams, in the following amounts of these compounds. Hint: Multiply the percentage of Hydrogen in each substance by the number of grams given. For example, if the percent of hydrogen in #5 was 25% (just using this as an example) multiply 350 x 25/100 to get the number of grams of hydrogen in #9. 9. 350 gC10H14O 10. 20.2 gNa2C4H4O6 11.124 gCa(HC2O4)2 12. 378 g(NH4)3PO4 Which of the following compounds has the highest percentage of iron content? 13. Fe2O3,Fe(OH)3orFe(C2H3O2)2 Calculate the percent composition of each of these known compounds. 14. Na2O2 15. H2S 16. C16H26O4N2S 17. Mg(OH)2 Solve the followng Problems. 18. How many grams of oxygen can be produced from the composition of 137g of Ca(OH)2? 19. How much iron, in grams, can be recovered from 52.0g of Fe2O3? 20. PERCENTAGE COMPOSITION
1. 60.2g of Hg combines completely with 24.0g of Br.

Hg + Br2 HgBr
60.2g 24g
84.2g
Total mass of compound = 60.2g + 24g = 84.2g (law of conservation of mass)
% of Hg = (Mass of Hg / total mass of the compound) * 100
= (60.2 g/ 84.2g) *100= 71.50%
% of Br = (Mass of Br/ total mass of the compound) * 100
= (24/84.2)*100 = 28.50%
2. 0.219g of La reacts with Oxygen to form a compound with a mass of 0.256.g
La + O2 La2O3
0.219g 0.040g 0.256g
FROM LAW OFCONSERVATION OF MASS

Mass of oxygen = total mass of compound formed – mass of La = 0.256 – 0.219 =0.040g
% of La = (Mass of La/ total mass of the compound) * 100
= (0.216/0.256)*100 = 84.38%
% of O = (Mass of O/ total mass of the compound) * 100
= (0.040/0.256)*100 =15.63%
3. 0.875g of Al combines completely with 3.45g of Cl.
Al + Cl2 AlCl3
0.875g 3.45g 4.325g
% of Al = (Mass of Al/ total mass of the compound) * 100
= (0.875/4.325)*100 =20.23%
% of Cl = C
(3.45/4.325)*100 = 79.77%

4. 4.29g of C combines completely with 5.71g of O.
C + O2 CO2
4.29g 5.71g 10g
% of C = (Mass of C / total mass of the compound) * 100
= (4.29/10)*100 = 42.9%
% of O = (Mass of O / total mass of the compound) * 100
= (5.71/10)*100 = 57.1%
5. Carvone (responsible for the smell in caraway seeds) C10H14O
Total mass of C10H14O = 12*10+1*14+16 = 150 g/mol
% of C = Mass of C / total mass * 100
=...
