What is Enterprise Resource Planning
COLLAPSE
Enterprise resource planning is a tool used for managing information.Managing information involves the storage and use of information for the benefit of an enterprise.Enterprise resource planning systems incorporate all aspects of information such as customer information, warehousing, financial information, and data that would otherwise be stored on spreadsheets.Having these systems allows for all necessaryinformation in an organization to be centralized. There are many positives to using ERP software, such as better customer service and improved teamwork. Some companies use modern ERP software, which allows you to connect your customers to a portal that is linked to different communication tools. Having ERP software makes life for the business much easier, especially because it centralizes information all in one place and facilitates better teamwork and customer service.

The following response is based on video #2:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVRgIXLWDHs
In order to obtain knowledge about Enterprise Resource Planning, I watched all the videos. However, among those videos, video 2 has an elaborated version of the definitionof Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) which helped me understand what it is and what role it plays in an organization.
According to the video, ERP can help in formulating a design from a basic idea to manufacturing the product and can help in building a new product and distributing that product in the market. In the design process, ERP "helps start compiling a list of all the material you need to build your product. It gives the estimate of the cost of producing per unit and how much thepriceof the product should be". From the manufacturing aspect, ERP helps in the supply chain set up process ; ERP "sends the vendors purchase orders for the material, schedule for their delivery, shipment instructions, payment for the material and their arrival".
ERP greatly supports in the process of distribution as well. ERP can manage matters such as tracking the inventory using material identification such as bar codes and radio frequencies. ERP tracks the customers information and delivers the customers order to the organization, this helps produce products according to the customer's choice (if customization is requested). The Electronic Data Interchange module is a feature in ERP which greatly facilitates the organizations distribution business.ERP also helps produce reports to help the managementtake future decisions to increase profit.
Overall, ERP helps organize all the necessary documentation, gather and store user information, aid financial decisions, and in the collection of data in forms of reports to produce an estimate for future investments.

This was such an excellent way to describe ERP. If I did not watch a video already, your description of enterprise resource planning definitely would have helped me to understand it better. ERP seems like it can be a tremendous help with businesses for owners and managers. I love that it gathers all of a company's information.
