Part II:Reply to the post below:A common interpretation of the term Hegemonic Masculinity, according to the Global Policy journal is “‘an idealized, dominant, heterosexual masculinity, constructed in relation to women and to subordinated masculinities, and closely connected to the institution of marriage”. In another words, any manwho aspires to epitomize this masculinity must show aggressive and violent behavior while at the same time limiting vulnerable emotions. He should show strength and toughness as well as being competitive and successful. Many times, western masculinity is shaped by homophobia in ways that “real” men should not act or feel as much otherwise they can be called gay. One clear example of this in our society, it’s in our school, when if a guy is seen having a lot of girlfriends, but never making out with any them. Bullies already start to call him “gay” (and many more pejorative’s names). Another clear example of toxicity masculinity in today’s days is how in the top Fortune 500 (CEOs) only 25 are women. Many times, women are considered as being incapable of being top CEOs because this toxic vision see them as "they are not as tough or strong" or "They can let their emotions affect their decisions".
