PART I: SCIENTIFIC METHODEach and every day, we are faced with having to make split-second decisions, and the need to solve random problems that we encounter. To reach those decisions and work those problems out you are subconsciously using the scientific method. Apply the five steps of the Scientific Method to two situations that could occur in your everyday life. Use the scientific method in the first scenario provided below to solve the problem at hand. Please come up with a second detailed scenario on your own and follow the same steps in the scientific method to find a resolution.Scenario 1: You arrive home late at night. You walk up to the front door, unlock it, and reach in to turn on the light switch located just inside the front door. The light does not come on! Now what?Scenario 2: Develop your own detailed problem/observation and apply the scientific method to solve.PART II: WHY I CANNOT LIVE WITH/WITHOUT SCIENCEAs you have seen throughout this course, science is intricately interwoven with our lives: in the food we eat, in the clothes we wear, in the computers we use for this course, science has had a hand in them all. Five steps of Science 
Scientific approach may be termed as a systematic way to sort out the solution of a problem. This 
systematic way comprises of five steps.  
Here are the steps adopted via Science to find out solution of any problem: 
1. To State the problem 
2. Formation of Hypothesis 
3. Conduction of Experiment 
4. To Make Observations 
5. To Draw a conclusion     (Sciencemag.org) 
Now, to get an idea how these steps could be utilized to solve the problems of routine life we 
may take two scenarios:
 “Science: Boon or Bane”
First Scenario 
Absence of Electricity 
1. The Problem 
Here the problem may be stated as: “There is an interruption in flow of domestic electricity.” 
2. Hypothesis 
If I could search for an alternative energy source then problem may be solved.  
3. Experiment  
As, I like to pass my time with technical items such as; battery, wire, etc. hence; I have a rich 
collection of these at my home now it‟s the time to utilize this collection to solve my problem.

For instance; I can construct "Storage battery," which may draw its power with the help of 
chemicals as, it consists of a set of plates that are made up of metallic Lead, and a set which is 
made up of Lead peroxide. I may immerse both sets in the Sulphuric acid so that, induction of 
chemical change may occur and Lead sulphate could be obtained. (Sciencemag.org) 
Observation  
This is capable to produce the electrical current. 
Conclusion 
As, battery can draw current efficiently hence; may be used for general lighting purpose easily.
