Violence has always remained within the domain of the human society but as we,
the human beings are becoming more and more modernized, the degree of violence is
increasing day by day. One of the gravest forms of violence is gun violence which has not
only claimed the lives of myriads of innocents in the United States but has also put an
end suddenly to hopeful lives in different corners of the globe. The issue has become a
global issue, but the concentration of gun violence has been observed mainly in the
United States of America. Constant debates are going on regarding the reasons behind
the emergence of gun violence in the United States and several other debates are going
on regarding the role of the U.S. government in preventing the occurrence of gun
violence. Several arguments have been made regarding the inability of the nation’s
legislature in respect of formulating strong laws preventing the easy purchase of guns,
and huge public opinions have been raised against the ineptness of the governing bodies
and law enforcement agencies in tackling the too much availability of guns in the market
of the United States. But though all these discussions, debates, and arguments are
necessary to put an end to the menace of gun violence, one should also admit the fact
that efforts have already been generated by the U.S. government and the majority of the
U.S. population to put an end to gun violence either by formulating laws and obeying
them or by controlling the habit of purchasing guns and keeping them in home without
any valid reason.
It should be admitted that the tendency to avert from using gun and owning guns
is noticeable among most of today’s Americans. It is an undeniable fact that still now

the degree of gun violence has not come down and still now myriads of lives are being
lost due to the fanatic whims of perverted individuals who did get the chance of killing
human beings by having easy access to guns and other firearms. Research is still going
on to identify the graveness and causes of such violence and studies are being carried on
for determining the degree of the negative impact of gun violence on the American
society. Moreover, it should be admitted that though guns and firearms are the primary
weapons used in killing people all over the world, in the United States the number of
incidents of gun violence has surpassed the counting of any other nations of the world.
Recent studies have found that “each year, more than 20,000 children and youth under
age 20 are killed or injured by firearms in the United States” (“Children, Youth, and Gun
Violence: Analysis”, n.d.), and such information is undoubtedly worrying.
It has been also found that the pivotal reason behind the rise of gun violence in
the United States is the easy access of the populace to guns and other firearms and it is
an unsettling fact that anybody, after attaining a particular age, in the United States,
having money in hand, can purchase a gun. And as there are feeble restrictions on the
inflow of guns in the U.S. markets, it has become easy for criminal-minded and mentally
instable individuals to purchase guns and use them against the human society,
destroying precious lives and devastating the society. Studies have also found that to put
a check on such nonconforming practices the rate of children’s unsupervised exposure
to gun must be reduced, communities must be engaged to check the inflow of guns
within families, law enforcement should be strengthened, and the flow of illegal guns to

youth should be obliterated (“Children, Youth, and Gun Violence: Analysis”, n.d.). But
once again it should be reminded that there are also studies conducted which show that
the degree of aversion towards owning or using guns is now becoming visible among
most of the sensible citizens of the United States of America.
Before moving solely into the discussion relating to the indication of the aversion
of most of the Americans in owning and using a gun, the degree of frequency of gun
violence and the graveness of the issue along with its destructiveness has to be observed
and analyzed. Striking results have been found through myriads of studies conducted to
ascertain the widespread of guns in the American society. Specific studies revealed that
out of every hundred Americans ninety percent Americans possess guns and the number
of guns present in the American society has been counted to be about 270 millions
