Substitute the Red Dots on p. 633 for numbers #1-5; on a Google Doc, in MLA format, respond in complete sentences (some have more than one question, be thorough).
#5 (the fifth red dot/bullet point) must include: Title of the poem in quotation marks, author, page number. Include methods you will apply for your oral interpretation. Ex. - How will you use your voice or other vocal devices? See #5 for more info. Respond.
#6 Respond: Add a stanza created by you to insert into the poem as you see fit (recite).
#7 Respond: Add a brief summary paragraph of the Author in 3-5 sentences.
#8 Respond: Add a paragraph using 3 paraphrased sentences of Building Background.
#9 Thematic Focus: Explain in 2-3 sentences whether or not the speaker of the poem you are studying and presenting lacks a firm sense of identity. Be specific. Be thorough. Avoid: “The speaker of the poem “XYZ” has a firm identity because he is an American.” This would be considered incomplete and therefore, unacceptable. Use your analysis here!
#10 Objective: Each poem has a particular objective associated with the content. Once your selection has been approved you must ask your teacher for #10 specific to your poem. Then you will respond to #10 based on the objective you are given.
