Part 1: Unit Plan


Using the “COE Lesson Plan Template” (file attach)and the “Class Profile,” (file attach) complete the three lessons integrating Social Studies, ELA and Arts Unit Plan you outlined in Topic 5. Complete the Differentiation section of the lesson plan templates reflecting the needs of the students in the “Class Profile,”


In your unit, design the three lesson plans to include:



  1. Appropriate content standards on which the lesson plans are clearly based.

  2. Meaningful learning progressions across the three content areas that develop students' abilities to apply the major concepts of the content.

  3. Effective strategies and learning resources, including technology, in the three subject areas to create meaningful and engaging opportunities for students to learn, practice, and master content.

  4. Differentiated cross-disciplinary instruction based on the needs of the students outlined in the “Class Profile,” using developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate teaching and learning strategies.


APA style format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.



Part 2: Reflective Essay


In a 500 word reflection, describe your instructional choices, including 2-3 research-based sources to support your reasoning. As part of your reflection address the following items:



  1. Explain the instructional strategies you chose. Explicitly highlight the strategies within your plan that enhances language development and communication skills for all students, including those with exceptionalities.

  2. Explain the modifications you made to make this unit accessible and appropriate for individuals with exceptionalities, being specific regarding the exceptionalities you addressed.


Submit the three lesson plans and the essay as one deliverable.


Prepare this portion of the assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
