Parrot Academy Parrot Academy is an international company that provides educational content for over one million readers worldwide. They are using an online system that was developed several years ago using conventional technologies. Their platform is not moderated and has become increasingly time consuming and expensive to update. They have also observed that two of their main competitors have migrated some of their services (e.g. live video streaming and payment processing) to the cloud and provide online content via document, video, and audio. The CEO of Parrot Academy has decided to overhaul its technology strategy and the management of its IT delivery teams to reduce the cost and time They are considering a re-structure. According to the CEO, • “We urgently need to use recent technologies to make our services more secure, flexible, and agile” • “We need to design and create a new web-based system using microservices technology” • “We would like to also migrate some of our services to the cloud in a reliable cloud provider to reduce the operational cost and pay per use.” The company requires you to first establish your credentials in a report and provide an overview of the three technologies that they are interested in: Microservices, Cloud Computing, and Web-Based Information Systems. Then, they would like you to include your recommendations and advise on the use of these technologies to solve their problems and address their needs. of upgrades and to deliver a more reliable and secure service. Security, flexibility, and agility are critical to the company so that they can incorporate new code and new technologies that facilitate teaching and learning as frequently as they can and measure the effort of that. This is very important for them at this stage to increase their competitive edge. The current system allows content creators to manage their content and customers to purchase them. The system supports payment processing, user account management, accounting, analytics, marketplace, discussion forum, and advertisements. Use appropriate headings in the body of the report. Do NOT use generic words such as ‘Body, Body of the Report, Tasks’ as section headings. Create meaningful headings and subheadings that reflect the topic and content of your report. This is where you talk about Microservices, Cloud Computing, and Web-Based Information Systems to convince stakeholders that they are reliable solutions for their potential problems and needs. This will set the tone for your recommendations. Make sure to include three examples for successful implementation of Microservice Architecture, Cloud Computing, and Web-Based Information Systems in your discussions.  Conclusion: Restate the purpose of the report and key issues investigated and the related findings based on your research and analysis. Explain the significance of your findings for addressing the problem stated in the case scenario and any limitations. State how your report has achieved its objectives and any future work to be considered  Recommendation: Make specific and actionable recommendations to the organization to address their needs  Reference list: You are required to include the details of your references in this section Note that the cover page, table of content, executive summary, and reference list are not counted in the 2500 words. APA style should be used for citing the references. Introduction
This report discusses the current scenario of the target company Parrot Academy and the prospective technologies that it should use to grow its business and enhance customer experience.
The target company offers educational content to its customers around the globe using traditional online system that supports services like accounting, payment and content distribution. The system is unable to support the growth of business and the company is in urgent need of upscaling its services. Three new technologies are proposed in the report namely, microservices, cloud computing and web-based information systems. The basic concepts of these technologies are described in the report with their benefits and challenges to an adopting company. The use of these technologies is described at companies like Netflix, McDonald’s and eBay. The report is concluded with recommendations for use of these technologies so that the target company can enhance its business processes and overall efficiency. The use of these technologies mainly address the issue of security, agility and flexibility.
Microservices
Microservice architecture works on the principle of dividing the system into multiple light weight services. These services are developed to work on service-oriented style cohesively. Microservices is a collection of several services that work for the same system facilitating faster and reliable delivery of operations on a large scale. The services are loosely coupled such that they can be deployed separately, managed by small development teams in such a manner that the business can maintain and test the system comprehensively. The main characteristics of this architecture are
· Each service is deployed as a separate component which can be modified and redeployed without affecting the integrity of the system as a whole.
· It enhances business capability with cross functional teams. Every team builds separate product based on services and communicate through message.
· This architecture allows the system to use different technologies and platforms with decentralized governance. Tools developed by one service team can be used by other teams to solve identical issues.
· Simple routing is implemented via smart endpoints nd applying logic where information flows.
The principles on which MSA works include loose coupling of services, reusability, fault tolerance, autonomy and composability. The principle of loose coupling maintains cohesion in the services and reduces dependency on one another. APIs are used in such a manner that the system users are immune from the impact of the coupling of services that can be seen through implementation changes. Parrot academy can switch and modify the components of the system without affecting the overall system or its users. The new system can be reused for its merit and microservices shall be adaptable for use for purposes other than the context they are developed for. The services shall offer better fault tolerance as each service will be fault tolerant with minimum impact on other services that it is coupled with. In case of failure of one service, the other connected services can disconnect communication with it in order to minimize the advancement of failure to themselves and preventing the impact on the overall system of the company. The runtime environment can be controlled with the new implementation in order to enhance the performance and reliability of the services. This autonomy further allows scalability of the services. All these principles together account for the composability of the new system specifically for the company in order to deliver value. Each service team should be able to discover technical interface of other services it is coupled with.
