Paragonimus westermaniis a 12mm lung fluke in humans. Humans acquire infection by ingestion of uncooked or undercooked crustaceans such as crayfish or crabs containing the parasite. Within lungs, the parasite encapsulates and initiations an inflammatory response and sometimes edema. What should be the effect of the parasite on total lung capacity?
