Overview Welcome to the 3rd dimension! This section will cover the 3D environment and how to navigate and manipulate objects in it. While we will be using specific programs for this month, the core concepts are universal among all 3D software. Prerequisites Maya installed and updated to the version stated in the Software Installation Instruction section. To properly complete this section, you must watch the lecture associated with it. Lecture 1 covers The 3D environment The Maya Interface Navigating the 3D space Manipulating objects in 3D space Creating and setting a project in Maya Saving and Loading your work Week 1 will have 6 submissions. Week 1 Submission 1 - Diorama Instructions Step 1. Following along in the lecture, in Maya, use primitives, translate, rotate, and scale to construct a diorama. Step 2. Things to make are : Ground House with a roof Tree Fence Snowman Step 3. Once done, take a screenshot of your diorama in Maya and submit it below. Screenshot Guidelines: -Make sure Maya is maximized, and the Perspective Camera is maximized. -Make sure that the activity is easily viewable. Frame up on it and position it from an angle that properly shows your work. Any screenshots that do not properly show off your work will not receive credit. -When taking screenshots, take a screenshot of the entire Maya program, so we can see the Maya version and save information. Make sure to use the image upload button to submit your screenshots. Week 1 Submission 2 - MrPotatoHead Instructions Step 1. Download the following file and unzip MrPotatoHead.zip Step 2. On your own, set your project in Maya to the unzipped MrPotatoHead. Once the project is set, open the scene name potatoHead.ma Step 3. Using the Translate, Rotate, and Scale, put Mr. PotatoHead back together. Make sure to match the reference that is displayed in the orthographic views. Step 4. Once done, take a screenshot of put together Mr.PotatoHead in Maya and submit it below.
