Overarm Throwing: Changes in Form Related to Changes in the Throwing Arm.
What individual constraints could be involved in determining the developmental level of overarm throwing for force?
1. Observe three people (try to include at least one child). Ask each person to throw with his or her preferred arm (i.e., the arm he or she naturally chooses). Assess each thrower’s developmental level using the observation plan provided in chapter 8.
2. Now, ask each person to throw with the opposite, or non-preferred, arm. What happens to the developmental level?
3. There will often be a difference of at least one developmental level between the preferred and non-preferred throwing arms. Generate a list of possible reasons to account for the difference.
