Overall You will work with other students to produce an online report about a specific population.

For the report, you will apply a public health framework to the critical evaluation of the impact

of social, cultural, economic, and political factors on the population and development of

strategies to address these factors.
each group member will address a social determinant of health within the Indigenous or migrant

population, and the group will decide which determinant is addressed by which member. The

determinants to be addressed are: gender, socioeconomic position, place of residence, racism,

and early life influences. Each group member is to critically address three questions about their

determinant within the public health framework presented in the Introduction:  Which

midstream and downstream determinants does your chosen determinant influence and how? 

How does this determinant interact with other upstream, midstream and downstream

determinants in this culture to impact health outcomes?   What can be done to address this

determinant within the selected culture?

*Answer these questions within the population health framework described in your group’s

Introduction. Your mark will reflect your ability to show critical thinking and to use concepts from

this unit.
