In case of California, the applicable education code provides the teachers with two options to obtain Multiple and Single Subject Teaching Credentials. Such a selection criteria allows the provision of acquiring experience for three to five years for the teachers to hone their skills. Such candidates who have acquired sufficient teaching experience at private schools and directly apply to the Commission for the multiple or single subject credential. Such candiates often do not need to be scrutinised by Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA).
In California, there is the credential structure that comprises of two levels. When the proposed candidates meet the basic requirements and his/her credentials get verified, they are issued the preliminary credential. This credential can be used for a maximum time span of five years. Later, a clear credential is issued upon the completion of all the certificate requirements.
