Operational definitions of target behaviors, which may need to be expanded to include the context in which each target exists. This is similar to a social-ecological perspective of looking at the person in the environment, and measuring both person and environmental factors because either or both may be used as targets of intervention. Consideration may also be given to preventive interventions, as part of a long-term cost–benefit analysis.
