You will be required to apply the financial concepts you have learned in class to your chosen industry and company. In groups of 3-4, students should first choose one ASX listed company to undertake financial ratio, market and competitor analysis. Finally, identify the regulator of the industry and your chosen ASX Listed Company and the recent actions (within the last 3 years) that they have taken to control ethical behaviour in the industry. Note that groups cannot have the same ASX Listed Company. The first-come, first-served rule will apply. Ratio analysis is a method of gaining insight into a company’s liquid
ity, operational efficiency and profitability by analyzing the financial statements. The term ratio analysis can be explained well by defining the terms how it is calculated and what the objective of this calculation is. The relationships are expressed in mathematical terms. It is based on a fact that accounting figures by itself may not communicate any meaningful information but when expressed as a relative to some other figure, it would definitely provide some significant information.
