What are the factors that affect mental health? A Quantitative Review

[Type text][Type text][Type text] STAT 4010 Annotated Bibliography Rubric APA References /20 References are in APA format – all necessary elements are present. (authors names, date, title of article, title of journal, volume and issue numbers, page numbers, DOI). References are recent (within the last five years) – if a reference is older, the student must explain why it was chosen. References are all academic journal articles. Journal article references must follow the format: Author, A.A. (Year). Title of journal article. Title of Journal, Issue(Volume), pp-pp. DOI: when available. Summary /20 The student has summarized the article in their own words, providing information on the main arguments and/or main points. Assessment /20 The student has assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the article. The student compared this source to other sources in the Bibliography. Reflection /20 The student has discussed how this source will help their research report, how they plan to use the source, and how it has changed the way they think about their topic. Overall Presentation /20 The Bibliography is in alphabetical order. There are no (or very few) spelling and grammatical errors. The writing is clear and concise. *Please note that this assignment is to be submitted on Turnitin. Only one submission required per group. Annotated Bibliography Worksheet Step 1: Provide the full APA reference for the article Step 2: Read through your article and take notes Step 3: Summarize, Assess, and Reflect Summarize: What are the main arguments? What is the point of the book/article? What topics are covered? If someone asked you about this article/book, what would you say? Reflect: Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic? Assess: Is this a useful source? How does it compare to the other source in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Why or why not? Is this source biased or objective? Step 4: Put it all together into paragraph format: Example of two completed annotations: Ahadzaden, A. S., Sharif, S. P., & Ong, F. S. (2017). Self-schema and self-discrepancy mediate the influence of Instagram usage on body image satisfaction among youth. Computers in Human Behavior, 68, 8-16. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.chb.2016.11.011 Research performed by Ahadzaden and Sharif explored the relationship of Instagram use on an individual’s body satisfaction. There are three key variables that are the focus of this study: self esteem, self-schema, and self discrepancy. Findings explain that a low self esteem contributes to the negative body satisfaction that is experienced from the comparison behaviour facilitated on the social media platform Instagram. Additionally, an individual’s self-schema and self discrepancy can either worsen the negative effects or help to mediate negative effects. Individuals that are aschematic about their body image are more susceptible to body dissatisfaction from comparing behaviour. Similarly having a high self discrepancy can also increase body dissatisfaction from being on Instagram because of a disconnect of one’s actual self and ideal self. The quantitative research performed was well executed. A survey was created and distributed to two different universities where a total of 273 people completed the survey. All survey findings were included with summary tables within the article. However, the ethnicity of the individuals that were surveyed did not represent the world population accurately, with the majority having a Chinese background. Terminology and theories in this report were from a psychology background, which made understanding the content more difficult. This source compared to the article in Social Media + Society provided findings that were more scientifically sound and resulted from a completely quantitative approach to answer the research question. Unfortunately, the research was conduct on university students, which is older than the 13-18 years old youth whom we are focusing our research on. The most useful finding from this article for our future research is that social media sites can create negative body satisfaction in its users. Battle, K. (2007). Child poverty: The evolution and impact of child benefits. In Covell, K., & Howe, R. B. (Eds.), A question of commitment: Children's rights in Canada (pp. 21-44). Waterloo, ON: Wilfrid Laurier University Press. Ken Battle draws on his research as an extensively-published policy analyst, and a close study of some government documents, to explain child benefits in Canada. He outlines some fundamental assumptions supporting the belief that all society members should contribute to the upbringing of children. His comparison of Canadian child poverty rates to those in other countries provides a useful wake-up call to anyone assuming Canadian society is doing a good job of protecting children from want.  He pays particular attention to the National Child Benefit (NCB), arguing that it did not deserve the criticism it received from politicians and journalists. He outlines the NCB’s development, costs, and benefits, including its dollar contribution to a typical recipient’s income. He laments that the Conservative government scaled back the program in favour of the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB), and clearly explains why it is inferior. However, Battle relies too heavily on his own work; he is the sole or primary author of almost half the sources in his bibliography. He could make this work stronger by drawing from the perspectives of others' analyses. However, Battle does offer a valuable source for this essay, because the chapter provides a concise overview of government-funded assistance currently available to parents. This offers context for analyzing the scope and financial reality of child poverty in Canada. Step 5: Put all of your annotations together in one document. Annotations should be alphabetical order, based on the first author’s last name. Remember: Submit only one annotated bibliography per group; remember to include all group member names. Each group member must prepare 5 annotations (i.e., a group of 3 should have 15 unique annotations); Make sure that there is no overlap in sources. Sources should be related to your research project – this is the first step in your research report. You will be using these sources to write the next assignment – the literature review; so, make sure that you are familiar with your sources.     Mediterranean Health Journal, 24(6), 549-559. doi:10.26719/2018.24.6.549
This fundamental survey provided a rundown of contributing factors for antenatal emotional well-being issues, including the absence of social help, sort of relationship with spouse, conjugal fulfillment, accidental pregnancy, distressing life-altering situations, and aggressive behaviour at home. The study has found that relationship with the partner have a positive correlational with mental health during the time of pregnancy. The research also suggests that women whose spouse does not support their pregnancy experienced are more prone to condition of psychological illnesses. The lack of statistical representation of data is a major limitation of the paper. I think that the paper has not analysed the study with a larger sample size. In my opinion, the review could include the comparison of this these risk factors in different areas.

This systemic review shows a very close relationship between a person's diet and stress, both of which can significantly impact overall mental health. Results have found that eating different kinds of food can affect a person’s mental health, just as changes in food and diet can affect the overall physical wellbeing of an individual. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude a...
