Part A What makes Deming’s cycle for continuous improvement cycle, and not merely a process? It`s not a process because the progression doesn`t stop once a solution has been applied, it continues to succeed on performance increases and to react to changes in the environment. Satisfactory When undertaking supply chain analysis, why is it important to consider relationships with suppliers? Suppliers has power to make changes on the prices of orders. Strong relationships can affect the profits. Also, their reliability has an influence on the production process. Satisfactory Explain the purpose of variance analysis. Variance analysis determines the difference between the actual performance and the expected performance which allows a company to make provision of the troubles and keep the business going while they are prepared to handle them. (ASIC, IBIS, ABS, etc.) Satisfactory Part B Consider your current organisational setting, a setting you have worked in, or one that are familiar with. Alternatively, you could select an organisation that has recently made significant improvements to systems and processes that have featured in the media. 1. Describe an organization’s approach to continuous improvement. Identify relevant frameworks, models and methods used to make improvements Deming Cycle consists of 4 steps: plan, do, check and act. As a website developer, we plan what we want to do along with rough sketches in a document. Think about various aspects of web designing, features we want to add etc. all in writing. As the second step, we do what we planned. After we developed the website, we compare the plan with what we have on hand on the third step. There might be gaps. We document these gaps and the improvements we wish to make in the same document. At the last act step, we perform the improvements that we documented in prior step and we fill the gaps. Identify an organisational process review. Map the process and submit your flow chart. Note potential areas for improvement in the process. Organisational process review is used to strengthen the organisation by collecting data, organising, screening, interpreting and sharing the relevant information to increase the organisational success through the improvement of insight and intelligence about the company. Potential areas of improvement strategies may include; 1.Educating all customer service staff about the new product to make them give proper information about it. 2. Advertising the product by e-mail, message text etc. 3. Getting feedbacks about the new product to see the shortcomings from the point of the customers’ eyes. 4. Giving promotions to encourage the potential customers to try the new product. Process Map 1. Identfy and plan: Define the need, the scoop and requirement Categorise the procurement process Check for existing procurement method Investigate the business case Send procurement market 2. Approach: Develop request documentation Forecast procurement approach Solicit procurement submissions 3.
