The last words of the story “Carnal Knowledge” have a great significance as it relates to
not only the title of the story but to the entire theme of the story as well. The story is ultimately
about the carnal knowledge, it is all about the significance of body and flesh, the urge and
craving for bodily desire, the want of sex. The very last words of the story is an indicator to the
