What impact does site design have on the people in the community?
Site design deals with creating the best designs for a community’s structural requirements. Site designs are important because a community’s built environment affects both the physical as well as mental health of the community’s residents.
It is important for architects/designers to take the various environmental and structural aspects of community resources into consideration before indulging into site designing. The areas that must be taken into consideration must include epidemiology, water quality, land use, injury prevention and personal space for all community members. The design must take into consideration the information gathered beforehand and must effectively overcome the limitations of the project site (Dannenberg et al., 2003).
It is a good idea for site designers to come up with a protocol for best practices in order to ensure and enhance the physical and mental health of the community in order to have positive impact on the people and the environment through their site designs.
