One of the main jobs of historians is to interpret the past by reviewing primary documents, scholarly secondary sources, and then creating an analysis of this research. After reading your text and reviewing the assigned materials, submit an analysis of American Cold War fears.

You might want to consider the following questions, but you are not limited to them: Do you believe American fears of the Soviet Union/Communism were justified during the Cold War? Were fears of Communists within the government justified? Why would the government put out PSAs(such as "Duck and Cover") that offer little in the way of real help? Do you see any lingering Cold War fears in modern America?

****This assignment should be at least 300 words and contain your reactions or questions about some specific issue within the historical narrative which you find compelling. For full credit, your paper must not simply sum up the reading or repeat points made there. Rather, I’m looking for you to create your own interpretation, explain the emotional content of the piece, or discuss some original insight. Include citations as needed.

*****Your short essay should include references to the textbook, as well as the articles included in the Lesson. If you choose to reference the material directly (quote them) be sure to include the source and page number. Your essay should be at minimum 300 words, typed.

Justifying American fears of the Soviet Union/Communism during Cold War
The USA’s fear of the Soviet Union was that they were many, and were rooted in import. There was probably no possibility for either American foreign policy, with the belief that the USSR is the most powerful communism in the whole world, with the control and influence of every communist movement, orbiting a gross plot to rule the whole world. Americans generally suspect the spread of Communism by the USSR (Shi & Tindall, 2016, 1006).
The majority disagreed with American communism and feared that it would spread to America. The result of this fear was that Eisenhower sought to reform the Cold War-era relations with the Soviet Union. After Joseph Stalin's dying in 1953, with leaders of French, Russian and British, Eisenhower met the proposed "open sky" policy, in which the United States and the Soviet Union conducted an aerial inspection of each other's military programs (Patterson, 1998). But the U.S.S.R rejected this offer, although it received international acceptance.
