One of the main jobs of historians is to interpret the past by reviewing primary documents, scholarly secondary sources, and then creating an analysis of this research. After reading your text and reviewing the assigned materials, submit an analysis of the Mexican Repatriation Program.

You might want to consider the following questions, but you are not limited to them: Was this program constitutional? Why do you believe this particular piece of history has been left out of textbooks and should that be changed? Would a national apology provide any benefits to those affected by the program or others? Could a program like this occur today? Why or why not? What struck you about Ruben Aguilar’s story?

****This assignment should be at least 300 words and contain your reactions or questions about some specific issue within the historical narrative which you find compelling. For full credit, your paper must not simply sum up the reading or repeat points made there. Rather, I’m looking for you to create your own interpretation, explain the emotional content of the piece, or discuss some original insight. Include citations as needed.

*****Your short essay should include references to the textbook, as well as the articles included in the Lesson. If you choose to reference the material directly (quote them) be sure to include the source and page number. Your essay should be at minimum 300 words, typed.

One such measure was the Mexican Repatriation Program that forcefully deported millions of unwilling Mexicans back to Mexico, ruining the lives of many families. In essence, the repatriation was more of an ethnic cleansing than a recession rescue measure as many Mexicans with US citizenship were also deported.
Many Mexicans had settled and taken up jobs in America during the boom period prior to 1929. Since Mexico shares borders with America, it was easy for Mexicans to come across legally (Koch, 2006). Earlier on, border measures were not so...
