Every student has been given an individual assignment for process selection (for example Vacuum Fan for student X). The constraints are (but not limited to and those vary case study by case study so please add or eliminate constraints which is not applicable for your assignment):

1) Material
2) Shape
3) Mass
4) Minimum Section
5) Precision
6) Roughness
7) Batch Size
8) Hardness

By conducting research, give logical values to the constraints, i.e. Minimum Section: 2 mm. Use the charts provided process charts (already emailed to you) and
a) Select two-three candidate materials b) Rank your selection by material cost c) Make a final recommendation.
Objective is minimizing the cost and free variable is, choice of process.

Process of material selection
Introduction
In this case, there are discussion about candidate materials that are selected for the research and discuss constrain related to candidate material. The Aluminium alloy, Titanium alloy, supper alloy and pol
ymer matrix composition are the candidate material. The material selection are done through the material properties of alloy.
Aluminium alloys and aluminium-matrix composites, titanium alloys, and polymer-matrix composites are candidate material for supersonic airframe structures. This report is discuss about the material candidates regards to importance of material properties and material alloys development from low temperature to high temperature. The aluminium alloy is usually used for air craft applications. This kind of candidate material also used for High-speed Civil Transport. This report most likely to discuss about candidate materials and their applications.
Selection of material
Aluminium alloy:
The aluminium alloy can be classified based on percentage of chemistry and presents of contains. If consider application of aluminium alloy then it used for airframe manufacturing for elevated temperature. For high temperature aluminium alloy used for aircraft applications.
Material - Following are the materials:
1. Ingot metallurgical alloy with or without lithium.
2. Discontinuously reinforce metal-matrix composition.
3. Non heat treatable dispersion- strengthened alloys.
The ingot alloy and dispersion strengthened alloys can be consider as candidates material for the work of where strength needed and it is require fracture toughness at the critical position. The ingot are capable at room temperature for the tensile strength for all kind of ingot alloys. For standard ingot alloys which are applicable for subsonic aircraft used for more favourable strength and toughness which is combine properties at elevated temperature of aluminium alloys.
Mass - As per given standard constrains for the discussion about the aluminium properties and other constrain for the candidate material. The aluminium alloy is less bulky and density of material 2700 kg/ m3. Strength of aluminium alloy is around 70 to 700 MPa at moderate temperature whereas temperature decrease the aluminium strength increasing and become more brittle, this properties are advantage and disadvantage as per working condition because at high temperature it become ductile and at low temperature gather good strength compare to moderate temperature.
