Objectives:
After completing this topic, the student will:
• be able to construct a quality research design
• have a thorough understanding about the different stages involved in research projects have an ability to develop experimental research designs in organisational contexts.
Research design
Designing a research project involves constructing set of processes that a researcher will follow to derive a solution to a particular line of enquiry (i.e. answer a research question or fulfil a research aim). When a researcher designs a method, he/she will consider the following:
• Will the study adopt Qualitative, Quantitative or Mixed methods?
• What research tools (i.e. surveys, interviews etc.) will be used to collect data?/ Which databases will be used to draw financial data from?
• Who will data be collected from (research sample)?
• Will the data collection occur in specific stages?
• How will collected data be analysed?
• What ethical considerations need to be taken into account when undertaking this study?
