Objectives:After completing this topic, the student will:• be able to construct a quality research design• have a thorough understanding about the different stages involved in research projects have an ability to develop experimental research designs in organisational contexts.Research designDesigning a research project involves constructing set of processes that a researcher will follow to derive a solution to a particular line of enquiry (i.e. answer a research question or fulfil a research aim). When a researcher designs a method, he/she will consider the following:• Will the study adopt Qualitative, Quantitative or Mixed methods?• What research tools (i.e. surveys, interviews etc.) will be used to collect data?/ Which databases will be used to draw financial data from?• Who will data be collected from (research sample)?• Will the data collection occur in specific stages?• How will collected data be analysed?• What ethical considerations need to be taken into account when undertaking this study?The figure below, which you already saw in week 1, summarises they key points relating to the research process.
