Nuclear Power

All energy sources have drawbacks. Even the clean hydropower option has negative ramifications. Weigh those against the possible consequences of developing nuclear power, a controversial alternative to fossil fuels. Discuss the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster as well as the 20th century Chernobyl nuclear meltdown in drawing conclusions about risk versus reward of nuclear energy use.

Risks versus Rewards of Nuclear Energy Use
The innovation of using nuclear power as an alternative source of energy is cons
idered as one of
the most remarkable discovery in the history of mankind. With the growing threats of
Environmental pollution generated due to the consumption of fossil fuels, the alternate source of
energy was long being felt which could generate power with minimum emission of pollutants.
As we know, fossil fuel generates lot of pollutants thereby creating environmental pollution and
increasing threats of disasters. Similarly, Solar power units become non functional during rainy
seasons and so is with wind power which stops working when winds does not flow. Nuclear
Power is considered, therefore, as an environment friendly source of energy.
Statistics shows that the amount of fuel required to run a nuclear power plant is much lesser than
the amount of fossil fuel for other power generation units. Even the Nuclear power plants can
generate energy in a more cost effective manner. The Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy,
Inc (EFN-USA)-a nonprofit organization based in USA, also advocates the benefit of nuclear
energy for a cleaner world. The organization is of the opinion that nuclear...
