Now that you have created your Scope Statement in Assignment 1C, you will get ready to store your information using Microsoft Project. Reference guides and video tutorials are available in the “Course Material” tab on the course page. You can also find a complete course on MS Project in lynda.northeastern.edu (a link to Lynda Online Training is also located in the menu bar of the course). 1. Create a new project file in MS Project and enter a brief description of the project objectives in the file properties. Remember, project objectives must be SMART – NOT vague. (2points) 2. Break the scope for your project down into deliverables (WBS) and/or phases (PBS) and enter these as "tasks" in your MS Project file. You can use a combination of both phases and deliverables if you prefer. (4points) 3. Break the deliverables down into work packages as you see fit and enter them as sub-tasks under the Deliverables. Remember that deliverables, work packages, and phases are expressed as nouns/adjs. - NOT verbs. (3points). 4. Break the work packages down into more easily estimated activities. Unlike deliverables, activities are the actual actions you need to perform to complete the deliverables or phases. Always use an action verb to describe what work is going on. (6points) 5. Use MS Project indenting feature to create an appropriate outline for your project. (2points). 6. Code the WBS or PBS using the default code or any code of your choice. (2points) Note: Your total project should consist of at least 40-50 lines; so you will have at least 25-30 activities. Remember that planning is an iterative process. As you begin estimating costs and schedule, you can always go back and revisit your assumptions about project activities (add or remove).Do not use summary activities. Only deliverables, work packages and activities. Your project activities must be completely original - do not copy information from another source. You will receive a credit of 0 for any assignments that are not original. Save the Project file using your Last Name and First initial at the beginning of the file name (example: AlexisJ_WBS) and submit it through the assignment link. (1point).
