    There are several types of assignments which require responses in the form of arguments. In order to defend the opinion about a literary work, the writer of an assignment use arguments. The thesis statement in this case is either a claim of value or a claim of fact. Assignments that call for argumentative responses usually look out for claim of policy, fact or value. For instance, assignments on political science, biology, sociology, education, chemistry and media studies usually require argumentative responses. The main purpose of using an argument in an assignment is to build a case for the proposed claim. But it has to be based on information from lectures and textbooks it make the argument more convincing.
