Font Style – Arial or Calibri Font Size – 11 Spacing – Single Spacing References/bibliography must be listed as part of your report. It should be at least 80% correct SCENARIO You are working as the accountant for AKC Architectural Firm which is a mid-size firm based in the inner suburbs of Melbourne. The majority of staff employed at AKC are married with young or teenage children, and after a human resources review it has been discovered that there is a high rate of staff absenteeism due to staff having to stay home to look after sick children or school related activities that staff need to attend. The management of AKC know that they have excellent staff and a good culture/staff morale and based on this would like to investigate options for instigating a more flexible work culture. They have asked you to undertake a report that examines whether the firm can support having staff work from home. This report will cover both the administration and architectural staff. Some of the questions you will have to investigate may include:  Does the firm have the appropriate software/access that will allow staff to work effectively from home?  Will the firm have to purchase additional resources (such as laptops and software etc).  What (if any) would be the cost savings to the firm?  Do staff need to be educated on the benefits of using a home office in relation to taxation?  Based on a standard 38 hour working week, how many hours would be acceptable for a staff member to work home from.  What processes would need to be put in place to stop staff from “abusing” the flexible work system.  What issues could occur if a flexible working system is put into place?  How can the firm ensure that there are adequate staff numbers on site?  What different arrangements may need to be in place for different staff? Can flexible work hours work for administration staff?

Architecture Firm Business Report
Preface:
The AKC architectural firm is a midsized firm working in the suburbs of Melbourne. The focus issue at present for AKC is the issues of massive absenteeism from the staff of the company. Some of the reasons for high absenteeism include staff needing to stay at home to look after children at home
as well they also need to attend for the school related activities as well. Considering all these aspects, the management of AKC is looking for an optional scheme of flexible work culture in the organization. In this regard, the firm wanted staff to work from home. The following part of the report is presented in this regard including the staff from both the administration and architectural staff as well. The key objective of the report is to investigate whether the firm can support the staff working from home (De Menezes and Kelliher 2017, P.1060).
Investigation Report:
(i) As of now the AKC architectural firms is purely a routine organization, where the staff are working from 10 to 5 or in the special occasions they do work overtime to meet the tighter deadlines. As of now the firm has never opted for flexible work system and hence there is no any software there available in the organization that can be accessed online for working from home. Hence there is need to either enable the running accounting software and other operational software with internet or alternatively it may be required to employ altogether different customized software for managing the operations of AKC. It is the situation of workers changed priorities. Most of the workers are now absenting from the work, as they have priorities like need to take care of their sick children, need to attend for the needs of the children etc. In this context, the AKC management wanted to create an alternative work procedure for not to lose the profits for the organization by employing an arrangement of working from home. Since each of these employees are associated with the organization for long time, their loss from the work is not worth losing, hence organization is looking for alternative ways of letting the workers for the organization.
(ii) It is required to provide access to this software as well it is also required to provide laptops or other PC support to the staff. Hence it needs to purchase the same. PCs and laptops will facilitate the access to the organization IT resources while staying in home, provided they have access to internet. In such situation, they can simply login into their portfolios and will work to settle their due diligence. In all such instances they will work to meet their obligations as well will also work for the company. However since all the employees do not have laptops and PCs. Employees need to be provided with the same based on their specific work needs. Also a software to integrate their operations and a mechanism to present with monitoring of their activities is needed, organization will get outcomes from the same.
(iii) Typical cost savings for the firm include work days increase by most of the staff who are now absenting from work. Actually speaking in this situation will result in several indirect advantages to the organization, as most of the staff is excellent and experienced staff and if they do attend the organization regularly it can result in better profits for the company, as the company will be good in reaching the delivery times as well, meeting the set objectives will be assured. In all these aspects the firm will work for cost savings as well will also work for betterment of the image and the performance reputation in the market, by taking up these measures.
(iv) There are few tax benefits as well if the employees work from home regularly, if the...
