Introduction
    The Great Awakening, the most significant occasion in American religion during the eighte
enth century, was a progression of enthusiastic strict restorations that spread over the American states in the late 1730s and 1740s. The mid-eighteenth century saw a flood of evangelism unprecedented in America, England, Scotland, and Germany (Koch). The Great Awakening led to the diminishing of the social barriers, development of Education and provided America with an identity.
The Great Awakening Mitigated Social Barriers
    Due to the Great awakening in America, individuals from the white community as well as the black community gathered at the same place in order to hear sermons and surrender themselves to the almighty. The highborn or the commoners, the rich r the poor, the educated on the enslaved- all stood shoulder to shoulder in order to offer their prayers to God. As God does not discriminate individuals based on their varied backgrounds, people came to one place, kneeling on their feet and opening their hands in order to seek the forgiveness of God. The Great Awakening considered every person equal as to be as born sinners and in order to achieve salvation; they should admit their sins in front of the almighty and seek forgiveness. Varied kinds of social, racial, gender barriers were mitigated with the Great Awakening as every individual was united with the element of religion. The Great Awakening bought Christianity to the black Americans who were not allowed to practice any religion in America society (Wallace).
