Nearly every state’s department of corrections (DOC)—or state-level agency that manages long-term correctional institutions—maintains an accessible website for public accountability and personnel recruitment purposes. Visit your state’s DOC website. Go to the webpage for one or more of the facilities found in your state and see if you can determine the design. Then look at the facilities’ security level and stated goals for inmates. Prepare a one- to two-page paper summarizing each element: design, security level, and institutional goals for inmates. Note: If you cannot find such a website for your own state, look for one for a nearby state.
