NADP Data Set (Appendix C.3). Rainwater untainted by pollution should have a pH of about 5.6. Acid rain will have a pH less than this. Very acid rain will have a pH less than 5.0. While regulations in the U.S. have reduced the acidity of rain in the U.S., have we succeeded in controlling the problem? Using the 20142016 pH values (PH_C), explore this question separately for regions east and west of the Mississippi. Examine both mean pH (compared to the target of 5.6) and the frequency of sites with very acid rain. Present your results in a short report, describing your methods and conclusions and containing both graphical and tabular summaries of the data. (Remember that the lower the pH, the greater the acidity of a solution.)
