How does the article help us to understand gender identity development beyond the research in the textbook?
By the virtue of this article, I was able to comprehend how information is processed in mind and developed across. This book and article in particular focuses more towards how gender is perceived and identity is associated with it. Beyond the research, I believe it is more about how is the upbringing of the child and in which environment one is raised. Underlying fact remains, one needs to be honest with oneself and needs to be true to authentic self. Hence, selecting who one is really up to the particular person. Gender Identity offers a narrative framework and we all are pushed to categorize in either/or basis (McLean, K. C., Shucard, H., & Syed, M., 2017).
