EPM5760 Individual Assignment 2020 EPM5760 PROJECT CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT 2020 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT REPORTS (a) A typed report is due on Wednesday, Week 10. Late penalties are applied if reports are overdue. All information should be collected, arranged in order and written up, photos and drawings added and the whole report checked and mistakes removed. Quality of the report is very important. (b) The length should be about 2500 words. (c) Content is more important than length, i.e. results obtained, original thoughts and ideas presented, completeness of conclusions. As much useful information as possible should be obtained from a limited amount of data, and a positive forward looking approach should be used, pointing towards a possible solution and likely future developments. (d) The style should be concise, as clear as possible without wasting any words. A technical report is designed to convey information as quickly and clearly as possible. Spelling mistakes should be eliminated in the final report, as they can be very distracting to the reader. The presentation should be as attractive as possible. Remember a good idea still has to be sold to people. You have to convince them that it is better than other ideas people already have. Report presentation will be assessed at 10% of total marks and drawings and photos are desirable. Typing the report is compulsory and also it improve the presentation. (e) The form of the final report should include the following: 1. Front cover with a picture of your choice related to the project. 2. First page with project title, student name, subject, etc. 3. List of contents with page numbers 4. Summary (Abstract) stating briefly what has been done in the project. (100 words), Written last, but placed first. 5. Introduction, giving the background of the project, some reasons for doing it, and briefly reporting work done by others. 6. Body of the Report: 7. Results: Present in detail all collected results. giving references and footnotes. 8. Comments or Analysis: The accuracy and reliability of the data should be updated, if possible. The facts and trends should be explained, and any discrepancies accounted for. The relevance of the results to the aim of the project should be considered. 9. Conclusions: Clear and definite conclusions should be drawn, stating how far the aims have been achieved and suggesting future work to be done. Conclusions should be numbered. (Do not confuse with Summary and Conclusion) 10. Acknowledgment: if any... 11. References: This will usually be a major part of the report. The various sources of information used for the project should be listed alphabetically by author, (the author, title, year of publication, publisher or journal, and number of pages should all be given, so that a reader could find a copy if desired).
