1. Ambiguity
According to the Cambridge dictionary, ambiguity refers to the fact of something having possibly more than 2 meanings and hence result in confusion.
Strategic ambiguity can be helpful in multiple ways. It is helpful during the periods of uncertainty and continuous changes. Ambiguity can be frames as a potential problem within discourse. It creates misunderstandings between people and hence implies mutual action. But ambiguity can be useful where we want new and different ideas for same situation. It is useful in quality assurance and research. Ambiguity in any business idea can allow one to get a better outcome.
Ambiguity generally takes to a phase where I couldn’t reach normally. Thinking a lot and talking to people with different ideas can actually give a lot in knowledge but if you are dealing with a wrong person then it can lead you to a very big problem. We can get rid of ambiguity but not completed. One need to follow some rules to escape from this. We should study in deep about anything without discussing it. We should learn to work with uncertainty and try to accept the fact that some of our decisions can be wrong.
2. Mars Climate Orbiter
Mars climate orbiter was designed to keep the track of changes in weather conditions, to study the water level in the atmosphere and on the ground as well and the temperature measurement.
Lockheed Martin produced the result in English units but other software development team interpreted it as in international standard units. This confusion lead to a major difference.
What I learnt from this:
In huge projects testing only the individual part is not sufficient but we should also focus on how they interact with each other. Project managers should have enough technical knowledge to execute the program. The complexity of a project is directly proportional to the communication...
