The proposal should be targeted at a potential ‘sponsor’ organisation that will need to be convinced of the appropriateness and effectiveness of the proposed new system. Choose an information system (e.g., ERP systems, CRM systems, SCM Systems, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Executive Information Systems, Enterprise Portals, Data Warehouse & Data Mining Applications, Enterprise Collaboration Systems, 10 | MNG03218 Managing Information Systems (Session 3, 2018) Knowledge Management Systems, and so on, that you have studied in this unit. Alternatively, you may wish to combine features of several systems. Please note for the purpose of this assignment, mobile apps or other e-business and digital enterprise applications should not be used as the chosen information system). Your assignment should describe the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) discussed in Topic 4 of the subject. The proposed system must address an identifiable problem/ opportunity that exists in the sponsor organisation and relate to particular aspects of the organisation’s overall strategic directions. It is important that you select the features of your system carefully and justify your selection. Do not just use (be critical of the use of) the standard features of a commercially available software package. For the purposes of this assignment, try to keep the system that you are proposing to a manageable size. Your proposed system could help the ‘sponsor’ by: • improving an existing manual information system • introducing a new information system • creating a new business opportunity • improving organisational productivity. Executive Summary
There is a various problem, which can be seen within the sector of working of an organisation. Each of the problem in the context of the working of the organisation can have a huge impact, which would be changing the success factor of the organisation. The Decision support system is one of the software-based solution, which can be implemented within the sector of working of the organisation, which can be helping in the domain of the mitigation of the problem, which is seen in most of the cases. The DSS is one of the tools, which is implemented recently
in most of the organisation, and gaining of competitive advantage within the sector of the working of the organisation can be easily be achieved. There is some problem, which can be seen in the domain, and it can be stated here that mitigation of the problem is one of the primary factors of concern, which can be stated here to playing an important role.

Introduction
There are different forms of the information system, which is playing a significant role, which is modifying the working in most of the organisation. Information system tends to take control of the different sectors of working which directly focus on modifying the internal working, which can directly lead to the sector of gaining of competitive advantage (Fazi, Fransoo and Van Woensel 2015). Moreover, the sector of working within the peripheral of the information system is one of the factors of concern, which should be considered from the end of the organisation.
In the context of the report information system, which is termed, as a decision support system (DSS) would be implemented within an organisation, which is named as ALTIUM. The main focus area, which would be considered, is in the area of the how the implementation would be done and what are the different forms of benefit which would be gained from the organisation. The factor, which has to focus on the sector of implementation, and the impact, which would be given work, would be widely discussed in the report.
Decision support system
The Decision support system is an integral part of the information system, which can be considered as an interactive system, which is software, based. The main area of focus, which can be given in the sector, can be directed towards the managers who would be helped during the phase of decision making using accessing a large amount of the information, which is generated from the different information system, which is prevailing within the organisation. Some of the area, which can be stated to be covered within the implementation of the decision support system, is the office automation system and the transaction processor system. It can be stated to be directly affecting the area of decision making which can be related to the working of the organisation (Panagiotidou, Stavrakakis and Diakaki 2015). One of the factor, which can be stated here, is linked to the decision-making areas, which are complex, which directly takes a lot of precision and would be affecting the success factor of the project.
The concept of the Decision support system directly makes use of the exception, pattern, summary information and trend with the help of the analytical model, which would be helping in the field of decision-making. The decision support system can be considered to be helping in the sector of decision-making but does not directly gives a decision on itself. The decision makers in the sector compile different forms of information, for example, the documents, raw data, personal knowledge and or business models to identify the different problem and provide a suitable mitigation plan to the problem which are detected. After the mitigation plan is implemented and the factor is removed them the sector of decision-making is taken into consideration which would be helping the organisation to move towards the goal and objective of the working. These tend to be a systematic process where each of the step in the sector could be stated to be very much important.
Types of Decision support system
In the context of the types of Decision support system, it can be stated that there are widely two types of system, which are mainly the programmed and non-programmed decision. Each of the sector, which is linked to each type, can be stated to be playing a different role, which in the context of the decision-making is very much important. Each of the types of the Decision support system is explained below:
Programmed decision-making
Programmed decision making can be stated to be basically a process which is automated and work which is routinely based where the decision is taken more than one time, and the decision does follow some pattern which is related to the rules and guideline. These rules and the guideline can be stated to be very much be predefined which is significantly important due to the factor that it directly enhances the decision-making area and the impact it would be on the mind of the working of the organisation. Hence, the decision, which is taken in the sector, can be considered very much be effective, which can handle lots of complex documentation area and according to the justification area, the decision would be taken.
Example: One of the example which can be stated here is directly linked to the sector of the selecting a level of reordering relating to the inventories which are a programmed decision.
Non-programmed decision making
The domain of non-programmed decision-making is usually taken into consideration when there is no area of focus. It is directly implemented when it is a very much unusual and non-addressed situation, which is directly affecting the working of the organisation. Therefore, it can be considered here that the area of the decision making which is taken in the non-programmed decision-making would be a decision, which is a new decision. In the sector, there would not be any form of rules, which would be followed in the domain of decision-making. The decision which is taken in the sector would be based on the information which is available and on the other hand the decision would be directly based on the manager's instinct, perception, judgement and discretion. In most of the cases, the decision which is taken in the sector can be considered to be playing a significant role which would be directly helping the organisation in a process evaluation sector which would be impacting the direct working of the organisation. The decision which is taken in the sector can be stated to be very much beneficial in the short run and is not well suited for a long term process due to the factor that there should be an implementation of a permanent area of decision making. This would be helping the organisation to excel in the...
