TREND #1 – Archeological Tours Tour selection: o The tour I selected is “Archaeology of Western Turkey” offered by Travel the Unknown based out of the United Kingdom. This 11 day tour takes in the archeological sites of ancient Troy, Pergamon, Pammukale, Ephesus and Perge. All of these archeological sites have importance and significance dating back to 12,000 B.C, many which remained undiscovered until the last century. Description of highlight: o Ephesus is arguably one of the best preserved ancient archeological sites in Turkey and the world. The religiously important city dates back to the 12th Century BC and contains the Celcus Library and magnificent terraced houses that are currently being excavated. Ec., etc., etc. Psychological Influence and description: o Motivation – this is not your usual tour that most travellers would want or be interested in booking. It is geared specifically to those people who are interested in history and archeology so people booking these tours would have to be motivated to take this trip. Etc., etc., etc. Demographics: o I believe the demographics of this trip would by baby boomers as that is the group that has the highest disposable income and may have the interest level in this type of trip. Anyone who is a member of this association already has an interest in archeology, making them excellent potential customers. The members are archeologists, students, and other interested or motivated people. As this is a Canadian association with 5,000 active members, they would provide a large base of people who I could target for marketing initiatives.
