Critical Analysis
Insight of Boost Juice and Evaluation of its Success in Australian and Chinese Markets
Boost Juice was the unique idea started by a passionate married woman Janine. She started her business from her kitchen. This organisation was the start-up where the owner discussed with naturopaths and nutritionists to develop the customised menu. This menu consists of juices and smoothies free from preservatives, artificial sweeteners and colouring. The idea is unique in itself as it enters the market when people are inclined towards unhealthy fast food. When most of the people go out, they consume soft drinks as they fail to have healthy alternatives (Boost Juice, 2019).
In Australia, the consumption of fast food was very high especially in context of consuming liquid. There is high dependency on soft drinks and packaged juices, which consists of artificial sweetening and flavouring. As mentioned by Janssen et al. (2018), it has been seen that there is high rate of obesity and overweight in Australia especially among children. This is due to consumption of high sugar drinks and fatty food. The idea of Boost Juice becomes success in Australian market. The reason for this success was because this idea was new in the country and it develops its own market in the beverage and food industry.
The national success of the organisation can be evaluated under the lens of Porter’s five forces model. As stated by Hussein and Muchemi (2019), Porter’s five forces model help to identify the level of competition for the organisation and extent of profitability. The five forces of the model are threat of new entry, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, organisational rivalry and threat of substitutes. As per the case of Boost Juice, the level of competition and rivalry was very low. Since the organisation adopted the method of franchising and acquisition to achieve its success, it has acquired it only rival in juice bar sector and rebranded it as Boost Juice. This reduces the competition and increases the profitability.
The only barrier in the success of the organisation was the getting money to conduct the business, which after three years of hard work help the organisation to open its second and third bar on the same day. There was availability of supplier, which provides material at low price and there is lack of substitute of their menu, which makes the bar unique in the country. On the contrary, Boost Juice brand has become established in the country with its reasonable price and good quality product resulted in reduction of threat of any new entry. Thus, organisation becomes success in its nation.
Since China is a country, where people follow the...
