Network Design Case    Drop and Forge is a manufacturing firm having 200 employees with a 120-computer network  on its Toledo, Ohio, campus. The company has one very large manufacturing plant with an  adjacent five-story office building comprising 100 rooms. The office building houses 100  computers, with additional 20 computers in the plant.  The current network is old and needs to  be replaced.     The new network will house a data center, the e-commerce edge and 12 printers. 10 printers  will be installed in the different rooms of the office building, while the other two are to be  installed in the plant. Employees will be allowed to bring their mobile devices (e.g., smart  phones, tablets) to work and use them to access required information such as their work email,  required documents and Internet.    Note, there are no other campuses, so you can omit WAN access. Requirements  There are two parts of the requirements for this assignment – a) Report and b) Presentation.  Hand drawn layouts for both logical and physical designs are fine. Using the building-block network design process, develop a logical design of the new  network for this enterprise campus that considers the seven network architecture  components. Remember to consider the expected growth of the company. For the  logical design, you need to consider the following items:  [25 marks]    1. Network architecture component    2. 1. Introduction 
The network design for D & F (Drop and Forge) for maintaining its connections with manufacturing unit and Head office is proposed here. This organization is having nearby 120 employees and these employees are working in different departments of D & F organization. In near future, some more employees will be added to this organization and these increased will also require scope in the developed network. This new network to D & F organization will use latest devices and mostly from repudiated brands so that their performance can be maintained in new network. For this proposed network design, mostly Cisco products are recommended by me as Cisco is much repudiated brand and known for its quality and accuracy in supplied products. The new proposed design of this organizational network will currently maintain 20 nodes in the manufacturing department of D & F organization and remaining 100 nodes will provide their services in Head office of D & F organization. This organization recommended placing 12 printers in the new network where only two printers are placed in the manufacturing area of D & F and remaining ten printers will be placed in the different floors of the Head office of this organization. The WAP implementation for user is also carried and proposed in new design of this organizational network. This will help in maintaining the wireless communication to all employees’ devices. 
2. Logical design for required network 
The logical designs are mostly carried out in some selected simulators like packet tracer, Netsim etc. The provided environment by simulator helps in effectively managing the logical devices in proposed network. The simulation results can be used to maintain the accuracy and error free environment for the newly proposed network design. The wastage of IP can also be minimized with simulation results. The final physical development of network is mostly based on presented logical design. 
2.1. Main architecture components used in network design 
The logical network contains so many different architectural components which make the actual implementation in desired manner of the network developing and requesting organization. For this D & F organization below explained main architectural components are identified and explained: 
1) Architectural components of server room: For D & F organization, the development of server room is main requirement from the architectural design. The inclusion of possible servers will maintain the operational execution of services at this organization. The reliability of web services to D & F organization will also be improved with separate server room. 
2) Architectural components of Head office: The D & F organization manages its network in separate divisions for head office and their manufacturing area. The inclusion of different routers is identified as the architectural components. The implementation of these separate routers will handle the network failure condition to the newly developed network. The network dead or hijack condition can effectively manage with these. The D & F organization is handling 120 employees and increased employees requires network connections, so, use of multi-port switches is also identified as the architectural components. The employees working at this organization can maintain the wireless connections in their devices so; this is also important architectural component. 
3) Architectural components for manufacturing area: The network at manufacturing area is not so critical and just maintaining two printers, one wireless access point and only 20 nodes. These all devices and architectural components can easily be managed with only one multi port switch. The WAP can also be connected to this switch and can provide the required services to employees working in manufacturing area.
