Submission Date: Week 11 Assessment Task: The design, building, querying and testing of a relational database Total Mark: 30 marks Weighting: Total 30% Students are advised that any submissions past the due date without an approved extension or without approved extenuating circumstances incurs a 5% penalty per calendar day, calculated from the total mark E.g. a task marked out of 40 will incur a 2 mark penalty per calendar day. Read the description of Sydney based Casual Employment Provider (CEP) and complete the tasks specified at the end. They had asked you as consultant to develop database for their business. You can choose appropriate attributes for the case provided for each entities, creating relationship identifying PK and FK for each entity. Casual Employment Provider (CEP) places casual workers in companies throughout greater Sydney. CEP would like to create a database of all potential candidates who are willing to work. · CEP will also like to maintain job history of all the new employee and update each time the candidate works. · CEP also list of companies that request casual candidates · Each CEP candidates qualifications also need to be recorded, candidate can have more than one qualifications. · CEP would also like to keep record for all the jobs applied by candidate. Candidate is given job when it matches his/her qualification. Job can be applied by many candidate. Tasks to be completed Given the above information: 1. Create a complete ERD to support the business needs as described above. 2. Convert the ERD to a set Relational tables in at least 3NF and draw a dependency diagram. 3. Create a database for CEP using MS ACCESS - with primary keys, foreign keys and other attributes mentioned for each entity. 4. Create a form to input/update data for Candidate. 5. Input some significant data in each table showing your understanding of the scenario. 6. Create three queries - SELECT, JOIN and one NUMERIC Function query; you can use any tables and any fields. 7. Create a report using any one of the above queries. List any additional business rules that you may assume to submit the ERD and database as complete as possible. ASSESSMENT SUBMISSION: The assignment must be submitted online in Moodle. All materials MUST be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format. Other formats (e.g., pdf or MAC file) may not be readable by markers. Please be aware that any assessments submitted in other formats will be considered LATE and will lose marks until it is presented in MS Word. No paper based or hardcopy submission will be accepted.
