Introduction
The learning journey throughout the subject has provided me with ample opportunities to increase my knowledge base and to develop myself as an IT professional for the nearing future. While learning the various roles of IT professionals through this course, I learned about the personal, social, ethical and legal impacts that may arise as a result of the work being done by an IT professional. Through this reflective journal I shall shed some light on the concepts that I have learned. I will also discuss about the interpretation of the content learned through this unit along with the outcomes.

Content Analysis
Week 1: An overview of Ethics
Lectures through this week covered ethics, trends that have been increasing the likelihood of ethical behaviour, corporate social responsibility, need of fostering ethics into a good business, methods to include ethical considerations while making decisions and the trends that have been increasing the risk of using information technology in an unethical manner. While learning through the course it was evident that ethics in general is the code of behaviour that has been defined by a group, to which the individuals belong. From the insights gained, I could say that ethics can be thought of as the outer circle of the core personal beliefs of an individual and the morals of an individual i.e. the beliefs of an individual of what is right and wrong (Quinn, 2017).
This week also helped us to understand the concept of integrity. In my opinion, integrity is the quality of the individuals to be honest and to provide others with the same respect as we expect in return. The lectures through this week also helped me to develop an in-depth understanding ethics in business. I learned that business ethics can also be termed as corporate ethics and is a form of professional ethics that is used to determine the ethical and moral principles applied to a business and the potential issues and challenges that may arise in the business environment. Despite of the importance ethics play in a business environment, there are several trends that have increased the risks of unethical behaviour. From my view point, it is the increased cultural diversity in the organisations that has been making it difficult for individuals within an organisation to follow the code of ethics.
From the lectures in this week it is evident that moral corruption of the people in power may pose to be a huge risk for the ethicality and morality of the business environment. In addition to this I also learned that the desire of the business organisations to survive through the cut throat competition existing in the market and to maximise the revenue and profits of the business organisations, unethical behaviour in individuals and within the organisation on the whole is increasing day-by-day. The next important and one of the most interesting concepts I learned through the unit was that of corporate social responsibility. This states that organisations must be responsible for their actions towards the shareholders, consumers, employees, community, environment and suppliers. Form the concepts I learned about CSR, I could establish the fact that CSR focuses on developing and maintaining a supply chain that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
The content presented in this week is relevant to the current business environment. The content is important as going through the content has helped me to grow as a professional and to develop an in-depth understanding of ethics and CSR, which I can use in the practical environment to fulfil my job responsibilities in the future. I learned the criticality of ethics and CSR in a business environment. Furthermore, I not only developed my basic concepts about these topics but also gained knowledge about the code of ethics and the steps involved in ethical decision making. Learning through this week has helped me improve my managerial skills and abilities.
Week 2: Ethics for IT Workers and Users
Learning through this week enhanced my knowledge about the relationships that must be maintained by IT workers and the ethical issues that IT users may face. The lectures in this week encouraged professionalism of IT workers along with encouraging ethical behaviours in IT users. It can be established through the content presented that IT workers must maintain sound relationships with employers, clients, suppliers, IT users, other professionals and the society in entirety. I have learned that a healthy relationship between an IT worker and employer is based on ethical use of IT by maintaining the confidentiality of the trade data and by improving the potential for whistle-blowing. Trade groups like SIIA and BSA have been trying to enforce ethical use of IT.
The content presented in this week helped me enhance my knowledge base regarding the relationship between IT workers and clients. Issues like conflicts of interest, fraud, misinterpretation, breach of contract and material breach of contract have been hampering the this relationship. In my opinion, it is the poor communication and the legacy systems that bring most of the troubles to IT projects. Key issues that may spoil the relationship between IT workers and the suppliers are bribery, internal control and separation of duties. I also inferred that It workers relationship with professionals working in other fields may be disturbed as the two of them might not follow the professional code of conduct. Inappropriate sharing of corporate information is one of the biggest issues in this case.
Furthermore, the expectations of society from the IT workers are to make their lives easier and provide them with significant benefits. The most important part of the content presented was the characteristics and methods that were discussed to encourage professionalism of IT workers. I learned the importance of certification and licensing. Moreover, learning through this week also helped me understand the malpractices that IT professionals may indulge into. From my viewpoint IT users may be into troubles if they are a part of software...
