ent

Purpose
This multi-purpose experiment was performed to get an idea about the process of
contamination caused by microbes, and factors affecting the same.
Background
Microbes can be termed quite versatile by nature. These are able to get transferred
between/among the abiotic as well as biotic sources of an eco-system. Though, the actual
mechanism of transfer of diverse microbes may vary, but there could be found few common
features linked with transmission of these tiny creatures. For instance, these can be transmitted
via fomites means; such inanimate objects/substances that have the ability to carry
microorganism and transferring them from one individual to another. Further, our hands can also
perform an important role in transferring of microbes into the body, and do not lose this ability
even after washing of them via water (cold/moderately warm).
Procedure
Both experiments were performed in two days. For fomites experiment, on first day, an
agar plate was taken by us, and we divided it into two regions with the help of marker. Then we
used a sterile swab (that was dipped in sterile water), and swabbed a surface (table) so that, agar
plate could be swabbed further. Same step was repeated in another region of nutrient agar plate
after swabbing the same type of swab on a pen. On the other hand, in case of hand washing
experiment, we divided the agar plate into two regions (named as; “before”...
